Job Description

Start here. Grow here.

At AECOM, we boast an impressive and expansive Water Team operating across the globe. With approximately 600 experts sitting in our UK and Ireland offices, we are constantly evolving to remain at the forefront of innovation, and we're on the lookout for talented, dedicated, and passionate individuals to join us.

Our Water Team in Scotland are delivering a diverse and high-impact portfolio of projects that are shaping sustainable and resilient water systems for generations to come. One of our most recent wins includes Scottish Water’s SR27 Enterprise. AECOM has been named preferred bidder for one of two Primary Designers on this transformational, multi-billion-pound programme. It is the highest value venture ever put into place by Scottish Water and will reshape Scotland’s water and wastewater infrastructure from 2027 to 2033 (with potential to extend for another 6 years).

AECOM will be at the heart of this ground-breaking delivery model, shaping design excellence at scale and working with Scottish Water and our Enterprise Partners to help drive outcomes that deliver value for customers in Scotland and go beyond net zero. This is a major win for AECOM and a powerful endorsement of our expertise, giving us a fantastic opportunity to deliver long-term, meaningful work that has large scale impact for communities across Scotland. This position offers an unparalleled opportunity to support on this programme and work alongside a talented, diverse team committed to innovation and efficiency.

Other key areas of current work include:

• Scottish Water Capital Programme: Via our CWA joint venture and partnering on the DV2 Design & Build programme and SR21 investment strategy, we're designing and delivering essential infrastructure like pipelines, pumping stations, and sewer upgrades across Scotland.
• Flood & Surface Water Management: To promote flood resilient communities and enhance sustainability, we’re supporting the implementation of flood solutions including the retrofit of blue/green infrastructure into urban areas and Natural Flood Management measures.
• Climate Resilience & Low-Carbon Design: To futureproof critical water infrastructure, we’re driving innovation with gravity-fed systems, carbon-efficient materials, and renewable technologies.
• Remote & Rural Delivery: We’re tackling complex engineering challenges in Scotland’s most remote locations, including the Western Isles, with a focus on environmental sensitivity and reliability.
• Water Innovation & SME Collaboration: we’re supporting the Hydro Nation agenda through technology pilots and validation services for emerging water-sector innovators.
• Multidisciplinary & Digital Expertise: Our multi-disciplinary teams are leveraging our in-house civil, structural, MEICA, geotechnical, and digital teams to deliver integrated, data-driven solutions.
• Beyond Scotland: We're also delivering major water and wastewater projects across the UK for water companies, including Thames Water, Wessex Water, Welsh Water (Cwm Taf), and international partners, including North Shore WWTP in Canada. Be part of a team shaping sustainable water infrastructure for the future – across Scotland and around the world.

Why Join AECOM?

• Impact: We lead some of the largest infrastructure projects across the UK and Ireland, and globally. By joining us, you'll deliver designs that prioritise innovative and sustainable solutions, work on collaborative platforms and harness cutting-edge technology.
• Growth: We prioritise the professional growth of our team members from day one. We offer fast-track opportunities for development, making you a key member of a diverse, dynamic, and ever-expanding team.

If you’re based in Scotland (or open to relocating here) with technical experience in the Water sector, we would be delighted to hear from you. Please submit your CV against this role - your application will then be reviewed alongside our current and upcoming opportunities.
