ApplyAt Wexford Veterinary Hospital, we're not simply looking to fill a vacancy. We're looking for the right person to join our team, grow with us, and build a long-term career in a practice where people genuinely enjoy coming to work.
For us, the most important thing we offer isn't our equipment or facilities, it's our people.
We are a supportive, friendly and highly collaborative team who believe veterinary practice works best when everyone works together. Our vets, nurses and support colleagues communicate openly, support one another and are always willing to share advice, discuss a case or lend a hand when needed. Whether you've been qualified for ten years or ten months, you'll never feel like you're on your own.
We hold regular clinical meetings, encourage shared learning and ensure that every team member has a voice in the development of the practice. We value different perspectives, celebrate individual strengths and work hard to create an environment where people feel comfortable asking questions, seeking support and continuing to learn.
If you're looking for a practice where teamwork isn't just a word on a recruitment advert, we'd love to hear from you.
We're seeking a Veterinary Surgeon who is interested in mixed practice and enjoys the variety that comes with working across both farm and companion animal care.
While experience in mixed practice would certainly be welcomed, we're deliberately keeping an open mind. We would be equally happy to hear from an experienced Veterinary Surgeon or a junior vet with the right attitude, enthusiasm and willingness to learn.
What matters most to us is finding someone who enjoys being part of a team, communicates well, takes pride in delivering excellent client and patient care, and wants to become a valued member of the practice.
For experienced vets, the role offers an interesting and varied mixed caseload with plenty of autonomy and opportunities to develop particular clinical interests.
For lesser expereienced vets, we provide genuine support and mentorship. We would never expect someone to be thrown in at the deep end. You'll have access to experienced colleagues who are happy to discuss cases, answer questions and help you build confidence at a pace that feels comfortable.
As a busy community-based mixed practice, we provide 24/7 care to a long-established and loyal client base. Many of our clients have trusted us with their animals and farms for generations, allowing us to build meaningful relationships and see cases through from beginning to end.
The role offers a rewarding balance of farm animal and companion animal work, with the flexibility to develop the areas that interest you most.
Farm work may include herd and flock health visits, fertility work, preventative medicine, routine procedures, calvings, lambings and emergency call-outs. You'll become a trusted partner to local farming clients and play an important role in supporting animal health across the region.
Alongside this, you'll enjoy a varied small animal caseload that includes consultations, diagnostic workups, preventative healthcare, surgery and inpatient care. The diversity of cases means there are always opportunities to learn, develop and stay engaged.
No two days are ever exactly the same, which is one of the things our team enjoys most about working here.
This is a full-time position working a 40-hour week with a 1 in 4 on-call rota.
Out-of-hours responsibilities are very much a team effort. We have experienced vets who support one another and a collaborative approach to managing emergency cases, ensuring that nobody feels unsupported when providing care outside of standard hours.
We're also happy to have conversations around working patterns and how the role might be structured for the right candidate.
Wexford Veterinary Hospital is a modern, well-equipped mixed practice with the facilities, caseload and team support needed to deliver excellent patient care.
We strongly believe that supporting professional development benefits both our team and our patients.
Whether you're interested in medicine, surgery, production animal work, diagnostics or a particular area of specialisation, we'll work with you to help you achieve your goals.
We actively encourage CPD, further qualifications and individual clinical interests. If there's a particular area you'd like to develop, we're keen to discuss how we can support you in getting there.
Learning and development are genuinely part of our culture, not simply a benefit listed on a job advert.
We've been caring for animals across County Wexford for more than 35 years and remain proud of our strong community roots.
While the practice has evolved significantly over the years, our values remain the same. We know our clients, we know their animals, and we care deeply about the role we play within the local community.
Our modern facilities include dedicated surgical theatres, digital radiography, ultrasound, endoscopy, in-house laboratory equipment and advanced dental facilities, allowing us to manage a broad range of cases to a high clinical standard.
You'll be joining a team of experienced Veterinary Surgeons, Veterinary Nurses and support colleagues who genuinely enjoy working together and are committed to delivering the very best care.
Located in Ireland's Sunny South East, Wexford offers an exceptional quality of life.

We're keen to hear from Veterinary Surgeons who enjoy the challenge and variety of mixed practice and are committed to providing excellent clinical and client care.
To be considered, you'll need to be:
Most importantly, we're looking for someone who wants to become part of our team and share in the values that have helped shape Wexford Veterinary Hospital for more than three decades.
If you're looking for a practice where you'll feel supported, valued and encouraged to develop, while enjoying the variety and challenge of mixed practice, we'd love to hear from you.
