Veterinarian

Work as a Vet. Live Like You Mean It.

Great clinics are easy to find.
Great lifestyles are harder.

At VetSouth, you don’t have to choose.

We’re looking for experienced veterinarians ready for a fresh challenge in Southland, New Zealand—where your work is varied, your team has your back, and your downtime actually feels like time off.

Think:

• Finishing work and heading straight to the river for a cast
• Weekends on the slopes or exploring national parks
• A five-minute commute instead of a daily grind
• Being part of a community where people know your name

Why VetSouth?

VetSouth was built on a simple belief: being rural shouldn’t mean compromising on quality.

Our clients - farmers running complex businesses and pet owners who care deeply about their animals - deserve the same high standard of veterinary care you would expect anywhere in the world.

And delivering that starts with great people.

We’ve brought together a team of vets from across New Zealand and around the globe, creating a genuinely diverse, highly skilled group with broad clinical experience.

We’re proudly NZ-owned, with nine clinics across Southland and South Otago, and part of the Comhla network, connecting you to 50+ clinics across NZ and Australia.

Our Purpose – Here for Good

“Here for Good” isn’t a slogan - it’s how we make decisions every day.

It’s about:

• Backing our clients and their long-term success
• Investing in better outcomes for animals and people
• Building trusted, long-term relationships—not transactions
• Supporting each other to do our best work

We don’t just want to know the animals, we want to understand the people, the farm, and the bigger picture.

Through our KeyVet approach, you’ll work closely with clients to deliver real impact while helping them maximise performance, animal health, and long-term results.

We are always evolving , whether that’s innovative tech, smarter dairy packages or strengthening companion animal services.

We’re in this for the long haul—and we’re here to do it properly.

The Role

You’ll be working across a diverse and rewarding caseload including:

• Dairy
• Beef
• Sheep
• Deer

We will shape the role around your strengths—whether you want to grow into leadership, specialise or keep variety and balance in your week.

What You’ll Get

• Generous CPD + real development pathways
• Access to a wider professional network across NZ & Australia
• Strong mentorship (or opportunities to mentor others)
• Supportive, well-resourced teams
• Flexible options – fixed term or permanent
• Temporary accommodation to help you settle in
• A culture that genuinely values wellbeing and balance

Where You’ll Be Based

Gore

A town that punches above its weight—rich in sport, culture and community, with skiing, adventure and wineries within easy reach.

Winton

A laid-back rural hub with strong community ties, great schools and easy access to Invercargill, Queenstown and Te Anau; perfect for both lifestyle and adventure.

What We’re Looking For

• BVSc (or equivalent) + eligible for NZ registration
• A confident, experienced vet ready to make an impact
• Someone who values relationships, teamwork and quality care
• Practical, adaptable and solutions-focused
• And yes - a good sense of humour helps

Ready for a Change?

If you’re looking for more than just another job and you want impact, lifestyle, and a team that has your back - this could be it.

Come for the opportunity. Stay for the lifestyle.
