VCE Maths and Science Tutors and Teachers - Full Time

Help students learn and love your subject.

At Contour, we're academic partners on a mission to reshape education. We provide students with an ecosystem of expert tutoring, learning resources, and individualised support so they have all the tools they need to reach their full potential.

Contour tutors are the heart of that student experience. You'll lead engaging group classes of 8–20 students, help them build confidence, master their subjects, and excel in their assessments, all while sharing your passion for learning.

Most people go into teaching to teach. Then come the yard duties, the reports, and the Sunday nights writing lesson plans. There is none of that here. Our academic team builds the curriculum, the workbooks, the homework, the practice SACs and the exams. You walk into a room and teach.

We're hiring full-time Tutors in VCE Maths Methods, Specialist Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics at our Box Hill campus. You don't need to teach all of them, just the subject or subjects you're strongest in, and you don't need a teaching degree. Bring your energy, ambition, and a love of your subject. You'll inspire students, grow as a communicator and leader, and pass on your passion to the next generation of high achievers.

Who we are

Contour was founded in 2020 by students who saw that the quality of your education was basically a lottery. Teachers stretched thin by the system, learning materials that varied from school to school, and support that stopped the moment you left the classroom.

We began with 5 students in a room. Today 15,000+ students have trusted Contour as their academic partners, and we've grown to 500+ team members across 10 campuses in Australia. In 2025 we ranked #8 on the AFR Fast 100 of fastest-growing companies.

We've produced hundreds of 99+ ATARs, tutored the world-record UCAT scorer, and placed 850+ students into medical and dental schools across Australia.

Contour is made up of three brands:

• Contour Education → academic performance in high school
• Contour MedPrep → entry into medical and dental schools
• Contour TestPrep → entry into selective and scholarship schools

Contour is built by students, for students.

What you'll do

This is teaching as a craft, full-time, with the administrative load taken off you.

• Teach small-group classes across our Core, Mastery and Extension programs, from students finding their footing to students chasing a 50.
• Teach from the Contour workbook. Our subject team writes the curriculum, homework, practice SACs and exams. Your prep is deciding how to teach it, not what to teach.
• Mentor students through VCE. You'll share what worked in your own academic path and help them build the habits that carry the year.
• Develop the craft of explanation. Through the Contour Tutor Academy you'll learn to break complex concepts into the moments where it clicks.

What you'll bring

• Strong communication and a knack for making hard concepts click
• Knowledge of your subject at first-year university level or above
• A 99+ ATAR and a 45+ raw study score in your subject (highly desirable, not required)
• Availability for full-time role, committed across a full academic year (we can consider 0.6-0.9 FTE too)
• Energy, empathy, and a desire to help students

Why you'll love it

You'll work alongside high-achieving subject specialists who are at Contour for the same reason: to give back and help the next generation of students.

• The pay: Full-time is 38 hours a week. Tutors start at $100,000 plus super and bonuses. Most full-time Tutors can earn up to $150,000 including bonuses.
• You don't build the material: Every class runs on a workbook our subject team writes, with homework, practice SACs and exams already built into our learning portal. We provide you with what to teach, and all you have to do is prep how to teach it.
• Real (paid) training: Qualification through Contour Tutor Academy, class sit-ins, regular check-ins with your team lead, and honest feedback on your tutoring.
• A full learning ecosystem behind you: Students get workshops, practice SACs and exams, one-on-one consults, text support, and the learning portal.
• Somewhere to go: Grow with Contour into senior tutoring roles, team leads, or other career opportunities.
• Perks: $60 monthly wellbeing allowance, birthday leave, loyalty leave, exam-study leave, novated leasing, and an employee assistance program (EAP) for you and your family.

How to apply

1. Submit your CV, ATAR/raw study scores, and a short paragraph on why you'd make a great tutor at Contour
2. Submit a short video (10–15 minutes) of you tutoring with a sample workbook we provide
3. Attend an in-person interview, which includes a Q&A and teaching a mock small-group class

One thing to know: all tutoring roles at Contour include a non-compete agreement. We heavily invest in your development as a tutor and ask for the same commitment to our mission in return. We'll walk you through the details before you sign any offer.
