System Strategy Planner - Customer Strategy Department, Platform Strategy Supervisory Department(PFSD)

Job Description:

Business Overview
Rakuten Group is based in Japan and serves approximately 100 million customers in Japan and 2 billion customers across 30 countries globally. We provide over 70 services in various fields, including e-commerce, payment services, financial services, telecommunications, media, and sports.

Department Overview

Rakuten Group has expanded its business scale, centered on our online shopping mall "Rakuten Ichiba" and credit card business "Rakuten Card," growing to achieve annual revenue of 800 billion JPY and a domestic Gross Transaction Value (GTV) of 8.8 trillion JPY.
Looking ahead, Rakuten aims to create a new business model that establishes a more robust "Rakuten Ecosystem," encompassing both online and offline life, by maximizing the assets we have cultivated primarily online, such as "Rakuten Members," "Rakuten Points," brand power, and member data.

This position is for individuals with experience in system strategy planning, who will join the Platform Strategy Division, a corporate organization* reporting directly to the COO and Executive Vice President.
The Platform Strategy Division does not operate a specific service; instead, it focuses on growth strategies and the implementation of initiatives for the entire Rakuten Group ecosystem, centered on cross-group marketing.
*Corporate Organization: A division that brings together cross-functional departments such as Corporate Planning, the President’s Office, HR, General Affairs, Accounting, and Legal.
Therefore, you will be able to develop your career while cultivating a very broad perspective, as you will be planning and executing initiatives based on the company's overall strategy. Furthermore, this is the only department within Rakuten Group, Inc. that handles such cross-company initiatives. We highly recommend this role to those who wish to be involved in high-level management and strategy in their daily work based on their past experience.

As explained above, because this department is the only one in Rakuten Group, Inc. that executes initiatives based on the company's overall strategy, the work of the Platform Strategy Division-which bears the future of Rakuten and its ecosystem strategy-is extremely broad and diverse.

There are numerous opportunities for individuals to demonstrate their skills and unleash their creativity, including proposing strategies to top management, formulating specific initiatives based on those strategies, creating innovative and attractive new programs and products, and designing operations to ensure customers can use our services with peace of mind.
