The Role
We're hiring a Senior Monetization Manager to optimize monetization and revenue yield across our growing portfolio of mobile apps, with a primary focus on subscription and paywall monetization across iOS and Android, backed by strong programmatic ad monetization experience. This is a highly strategic and analytical role, working cross-functionally with product, data and analytics, growth, and engineering to ensure Mode is maximizing subscription and ad revenue, LTV, and retention across our app portfolio.
The Senior Monetization Manager will own and grow our subscription monetization strategy — managing pricing and packaging, paywall experimentation, subscriber lifecycle and retention/win-back programs, and vendor relationships (RevenueCat, Superwall) — while also applying hands-on programmatic ad monetization experience, particularly with AdMob, to help balance subscription and ad revenue streams across our portfolio.
This is a high-impact, high-autonomy, fully remote role with significant visibility and upside, ideal for someone with strong subscription-monetization experience, a programmatic ad background, an AI-native way of working, and a bias for driving measurable results.
What You’ll Do
- Develop and own Mode's subscription monetization and pricing strategy across the app portfolio, including price testing, packaging, and paywall optimization on both iOS and Android
- Design, launch, and iterate on paywall experiments (offer structures, trial lengths, price points, targeting) to maximize conversion, ARPU, and LTV
- Manage subscriber lifecycle programs — including churn reduction, win-back, and retention offers — using cohort and funnel analysis to identify and close leakage points
- Own day-to-day management of subscription tooling and vendor relationships (e.g., RevenueCat, Superwall), including configuration and QA
- Own and optimize programmatic ad monetization performance across the portfolio, with a particular focus on AdMob configuration, mediation, and yield management, alongside other demand sources like AppLovin MAX
- Monitor, analyze, and optimize the balance between subscription revenue and ad monetization across the portfolio, using programmatic/ad ops expertise to inform trade-off decisions
- Leverage AI tools to accelerate analysis, reporting, and experimentation, embedding them into monetization workflows to scale your impact across the portfolio
- Partner with product, engineering, and data teams to identify and prioritize opportunities for pricing changes, paywall improvements, and subscription infrastructure enhancements
- Serve as the internal expert on subscription monetization mechanics, best practices, and trends across the mobile app ecosystem, while maintaining strong fluency in programmatic ad monetization when needed
Who You Are
- A highly organized individual who can run multiple monetization workstreams in parallel without letting details slip
- Data-driven and rigorous, you back decisions with clear reasoning and are comfortable both challenging assumptions and being challenged
- High-ownership and self-directed — you take a problem and run with it, and can be trusted to drive workstreams independently
- Comfortable with ambiguity and shifting priorities, you create structure and momentum where there isn't any
- Skilled at using data, A/B experimentation, and intuition to make the best possible decisions
What You Bring to the Team
- 4+ years of experience in subscription monetization, pricing strategy, or growth roles at a mobile app or subscription-based company
- Hands-on experience with paywall experimentation and subscription pricing across iOS and Android, with strong working knowledge of RevenueCat and/or Superwall
- Hands-on programmatic ad monetization experience, with strong working knowledge of AdMob (mediation, ad units, yield optimization) as well as SSPs, ad servers, and auction-based monetization strategies
- Strong familiarity with Mixpanel, RevenueCat, Superwall, AppLovin MAX, AdMob, and other related subscription and ad-centric tools
- AI-native: you default to AI tools to work faster and at greater scale, and actively look for ways to build them into your day-to-day workflow
- Proven track record of optimizing subscription and ad monetization performance (conversion, ARPU, LTV, churn, eCPM/fill rate) and delivering incremental revenue
- Strong ownership mindset, highly organized, and able to drive multiple workstreams in parallel while operating cross-functionally — a must for this role
- Alignment with our core values:
- Accountable: You take ownership of your responsibilities, demonstrating trustworthiness and self-discipline. You are consistent in your work, transparent in your actions, and communicate effectively. You follow through on commitments and strive for continuous improvement.
- Action-driven: Identify what is most important, agree on scope, execute in a timely manner, and drive the greatest impact. You take initiative, roll up your sleeves, and get things done.
- Caring: You genuinely care about yourself and others, our business and craft, our mission and vision, and are passionate in heart and mind. You understand the importance of our team and strive to create a positive, supportive work environment.
- Curious: You focus on the ‘why,’ learn and expand your knowledge, explore new ideas, and generally make things better. You're a lifelong learner with a thirst for knowledge and a constant desire to improve.
- Thorough: Your work is thoughtful, impactful, timely, accurate, and complete. You pay attention to detail, are meticulous, and ensure quality work and compliance.
