An established Darwin private practice is looking for a Speech Pathologist to join their paediatric team on a permanent basis. The caseload is varied, the families are genuinely engaged, and the clinical work matters — the Northern Territory's paediatric SP workforce is small, and every clinician who joins it makes a tangible difference to what's available for local kids.
- Paediatric caseload spanning early language, school-age communication, literacy, articulation, social communication, AAC and feeding
- Mix of clinic-based sessions, school visits, in-home therapy and telehealth
- Realistic caseload agreed with your clinical lead — not driven by billable-hour targets
- Full admin, scheduling and billing support so your day stays clinical
- Structured weekly supervision (new grads and early-career clinicians) and monthly-plus for experienced SPs
- Established relationships with local paediatricians, OTs, psychologists and schools for cross-referral and joint care
- Modern rooms, sensory-friendly setup, and a well-stocked resource library
What's on offer:
- Salary $85,000–$120,000 + super, benchmarked to experience (graduates through senior clinicians all considered)
- Relocation support for interstate and international candidates
- Annual PD budget and paid PD leave — including support for specialty training in AAC, feeding, literacy and autism-specific approaches
- Genuine flexibility on hours (4-day weeks and school-hours arrangements welcome)
- Clinical career pathway (senior, lead and specialty roles as the practice grows)
- A stable, close-knit team in a market where SPs are genuinely valued
About you:
- AHPRA registration as a Speech Pathologist (new graduates through senior clinicians all considered)
- Australian work rights (skilled migration pathways available for the right international candidate)
- Genuine interest in paediatric work and family-centred practice
- Comfortable across assessment and intervention; interest in a specialty area (feeding, AAC, literacy, autism support) welcomed but not required
- Ochre Card (NT Working with Vulnerable People clearance), or willingness to obtain
- Cultural humility and openness to working with families from diverse backgrounds, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and the Territory's large multicultural community
- Openness to the Top End way of life
Why Darwin — especially with kids of your own: Darwin is one of the easier places in Australia to raise a family. Short commutes mean you're home in time for the school pick-up, weekends aren't lost to traffic, and the outdoor lifestyle is built in rather than scheduled around. Dry-season weekends are spent at the Mindil Beach sunset markets, on the water at Cullen Bay, at the free waterfront lagoon, or exploring the waterfalls and swimming holes at Litchfield and Kakadu. Housing is more affordable than the mainland capitals, salaries hold their own, and childcare and school access is generally straightforward. Direct flights to Bali and Singapore are shorter than the one to Perth, and the multicultural food scene means dinner is always interesting. For clinicians thinking about the shape of the next few years — not just the next job — Darwin quietly outperforms most people's expectations.
