What is Automat?

Automat was founded by a diverse group of creative technologists from teams like Google Creative Lab and Samsung’s Innovation Think Tank. We're building a future where intelligent agents run real business operations, not just support them. Automat Workforce puts AI coworkers directly inside a company's existing tools to handle day-to-day operational work, and our Studio platform gives customers a fully managed way to build, deploy, and monitor their own agents and automations.

We value creativity, pragmatism, collaboration, and impact above rigid requirements. If you're excited about AI Agents and automation, thrive in flexible, creative environments, and want to work on meaningful, pioneering projects alongside experienced entrepreneurs - this role is for you.

We encourage anyone to apply - we think talent, passion and your unique perspective can outweigh years of experience. We are really looking for someone who can hit the ground running on day one and contribute at a rapid pace, while also being someone from whom we ourselves can learn from.

The Role

We're looking for product minded Full Stack Engineers with high potential who want to take their craft to the next level. We’re a small talented senior team who can do more with less, and are looking for folks who want to build key portions of our product offering alongside us. You’ll have the opportunity to actively influence product direction, and contribute meaningfully to all aspects of our engineering culture while learning from highly experienced engineer mentors.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with staff level engineers to build scalable and robust core product infrastructure for our customers. You’re perfect for this role if you've demonstrated your capabilities as a software engineer by working on real world products, and are ready to take the next step in your career at a fast paced AI first startup. We want to give you full ownership and agency.

What You'll Do:

Work within our Core Engineering team to develop and expand our product suite, from our Enterprise grade Automat Studio, to our state of the art Agentic Workflow Builder and beyond.
Build interfaces which leverage cutting-edge computer use models to automate and accelerate real world Enterprise workflows across finance, banking, healthcare, e-commerce, and more.
Collaborate with our Forward Deployed Team to understand how customers interact with Automat’s platform today, and use those learnings to bolster our Agentic Workflow Builder and Developer Toolkit.
Develop beautiful and intuitive UX interfaces which abstract away complex business automation processes and create a seamless experience for non-technical users and engineers alike
Create robust, enterprise grade back-end infrastructure and services to power our Fortune 500 customers' workflows at scale
Influence our engineering practices, shape product direction, and contribute to building a world class company culture.

What drives you

Curiosity and momentum — you love learning quickly, trying new tools, and improving your craft week over week. You're excited about the AI age and want to be at its forefront
Building with others — you thrive on fast feedback loops, pairing, and collaborating with designers/PMs/engineers to ship real user value
Excitement about AI-assisted development — you use AI tools to move faster, but you verify outputs, write tests, and check edge cases
Making complex things feel simple — you care deeply about polish, clarity, and turning messy workflows into delightful user experiences

What’s in your toolbox

Fullstack fundamentals — you’ve shipped production features across frontend + backend, and you understand APIs, databases, auth, and deployment
Strong product/engineering judgment — you know when to ship a scrappy v0, and when to slow down to fix a bug properly or refactor a hotspot
Modern web stack experience — comfortable with tools like Next.js, and eager to learn/ship with platforms like Supabase and Vercel
AI as a multiplier — you can leverage tools like Cursor/Windsurf/Claude to scaffold, debug, and iterate, while relying on good engineering habits (reviews, tests, logs, monitoring) to keep quality high

What we are looking for

Clear communication — you ask good questions, share progress early, and handle feedback well
Comfort with ambiguity (with support) — you can take a loosely defined problem, propose a plan, and iterate toward a solution
Hands-on experience with AI coding tools (Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, etc.) and a habit of validating results
Strong UX instincts — you care about speed, clarity, and making things intuitive
High initiative — you don’t wait to be told what to do; you find the next useful step and take it
Ownership mindset — you leave code cleaner than you found it and follow issues through to completion
Startup curiosity — you’re excited by fast-paced environments, learning by doing, and shipping frequently
