Software Engineer II

Position Summary

Position: Full-Time
Salary:  $80,000+ (based on experience)
Location: Fayetteville, Arkansas
Eligibility: Must reside in Northwest Arkansas
Experience: 2+ years professional .NET development
Background: Computer Science or equivalent technical background preferred

The Role

We are hiring a Software Engineer II in Northwest Arkansas who ships production software and uses AI tools as a core part of how they work. This is a senior-track role. You will bring 2+ years of professional .NET development experience, daily fluency with AI coding assistants, and enough consulting instinct to sit across from a client without a script.

At Sharp Hue, AI is not a side project. It is how we work. We are an AI-first software development firm with a people-centered design philosophy, serving growth-oriented small and mid-market businesses. You will own real engagements – building and shipping web applications, APIs, and cloud-native systems that businesses depend on every day.

What You Will Do

• Design and build custom web applications using .NET Core, C#, MVC, and Azure
• Own features end-to-end - from client conversation to deployed code to production support
• Use AI tools (Claude, Cursor, or equivalent) as a daily accelerator for scaffolding, testing, documentation, and problem-solving
• Participate in client-facing work: discovery sessions, technical walkthroughs, scope trade-offs, and status updates
• Contribute to Sharp Hue's internal tools, skills library, and repeatable engineering patterns
• Review teammates' code and help raise the team's technical and AI-fluency bar
• Translate business requirements into technical architecture and communicate trade-offs clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Who Should Apply

You are an experienced developer who already does the work we are hiring for. The foundation of .NET, Azure, Git, and AI tools is something you bring with you. What we add is real client work, a consulting operating model, and a small team that moves fast and teaches generously where it counts.

This role is a strong fit if most of these describe you:

• You have 2+ years of professional experience building production .NET applications (C#, .NET Core, MVC)
• You are fluent with Azure - web apps, function apps, APIs, and supporting services
• You have shipped code to production, debugged it under pressure, and owned its lifecycle
• You use AI coding assistants daily - and you have a point of view on when to trust the output and when to verify it
• You are comfortable in client conversations - explaining trade-offs, pushing back respectfully, and communicating progress without hand-holding
• You work independently on complex problems and know when to ask for help
• You write for humans - commit messages, documentation, and client emails that are clear, concise, and professional

Technical Requirements

The day-to-day relies on these, so you will want to be solid in:

• C# and .NET Core (multiple professional projects, not just coursework)
• ASP.NET Core MVC pattern
• Azure Web Apps, Function Apps, and related cloud services
• API development and service integration
• Auth - Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA/2FA)
• SQL databases
• ORMs and database migrations
• Git workflow: branches, pull requests, code review
• Visual Studio and Azure DevOps

Nice to have:

• Front-end fluency: HTML, CSS, JavaScript
• WordPress, PHP, MySQL exposure
• Broader Azure services experience (Storage, Service Bus, Application Insights, etc.)

Consulting Skills Required

Sharp Hue is a consultancy. Every developer here is client-facing to some degree. You do not need to be a polished account executive, but you do need to:

• Hold your own in a client meeting without a manager's coverage
• Ask good discovery questions and document what you hear
• Scope work realistically and communicate when assumptions change
• Explain technical decisions to people who do not have your background
• Follow through on commitments - the most important consulting skill of all

Interview Process

Our interview process is designed to see how you actually work, not how you answer hypothetical questions.

1. Screening conversation. A 30-minute call to review your background, logistics, and compensation fit.
2. Technical and AI fluency interview. A working session where we discuss architecture, walk through AI-assisted coding on a real problem, and evaluate how you think when you build.
3. Consulting scenario. A client-style conversation where we evaluate how you communicate, scope, and navigate ambiguity.

Why Sharp Hue

We are consultants first and builders always. We listen attentively, make strategic trade-offs, and deliver results in weeks, not quarters. We see AI like energy you can borrow, then direct -- and our team uses it every day. You will work alongside senior practitioners who will give you real responsibility from day one and real feedback throughout.

This role rewards people who want to sharpen their craft, ship meaningful work, and grow faster than they would at a larger company. If that is the kind of work you are looking for, we would love to hear from you.
