Our digital-first work environment, combined with our conveniently located offices and collaborative workspaces, provides our team with the freedom and flexibility to work in the most productive way for them.

About us

Tecsys is a fast-growing innovator offering supply chain solutions to industry leading healthcare systems, hospitals, and pharmacy businesses to distributors, retailers, and 3PLs. We work with industry leaders to transform their supply chains through technology. If you thrive on tackling interesting challenges with continuous learning opportunities, then Tecsys could be a good fit for you!

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Java Developer to join our dynamic development team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance Java applications. You will contribute by participating in brainstorming sessions, understanding of requirements, and the coding of the solutions.  You will work within an Agile team environment focused on the continuous improvement of their methodologies, tools, practices and teamwork. Finally, your skills to collaborate with transversal disciplines, to build trust between peers and your capacity for positive influence will help you to overcome challenges successfully.

Responsibilities

You'll design, build, and maintain high-performance Java applications inside an Agile team that takes continuous improvement seriously — not just as a buzzword, but as a real practice around tooling, process, and teamwork. Day to day, that means:

• Owning complex technical problems end-to-end — from analysis and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and production support.
• Shaping architecture and technical direction, and pushing back on proposed solutions when a more pragmatic or sustainable path exists.
• Reviewing code with care, giving feedback that actually improves quality, maintainability, and performance — not just rubber-stamping PRs.
• Mentoring less experienced developers through pairing, knowledge sharing, and honest technical guidance.
• Spotting technical debt and quality risks early, and helping the team prioritize fixing them before they become fires.
• Working closely with Tech Leads, Product Owners, and QA to turn ambiguous requirements into solid, shippable solutions.
• Using AI-assisted and agentic development tools to move faster — while staying fully accountable for the design, quality, security, and correctness of what ships.

Requirements

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5–7+ years building backend applications in Java.
• Experience with JUnit, relational databases (PostgreSQL a plus), and standard tooling (Git, Maven, a modern IDE).
• A track record of mentoring developers and giving constructive code review feedback.
• Strong engineering judgment — you weigh trade-offs and land on pragmatic, maintainable solutions.
• Solid grasp of clean code, automated testing, and managing technical debt.
• Hands-on experience with REST services and API architecture.
• Comfort using AI-assisted or agentic dev tools, with full ownership of what you ship.
• Strong proficiency in both written and verbal English communication essential for effective correspondence with clients, suppliers, business partners and colleagues beyond the province of Quebec.

We understand that experience comes in many forms and that careers are not always linear. If you don't meet every requirement in this posting, we still encourage you to apply.

At Tecsys, we are committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued, respected, and empowered. We believe that diversity drives innovation and strengthens our ability to deliver exceptional solutions. We welcome and encourage applicants from all backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to join our team.
