Project Delivery Industrial Placement

Job Description

At EDF, Success is Personal. That means your journey is unique to you. Join our Project Delivery Industrial Placement and you’ll gain hands-on experience, develop key skills, and help Britain achieve net zero – all while shaping a career that’s truly yours.

"Electricity is such a vital component in everyone’s lives. It powers schools, businesses and hospitals, so I knew that if I did my placement within EDF then I would have a really large impact on society, and that made my placement a lot more fulfilling.” Priyanka, Science and Engineering Industrial Placement.

The Opportunity

This 12-month placement offers a starting salary of £26,050 and the chance to work on site at #Heysham 1.

You’ll launch your career as a Project Engineer/Project Manager with our customised training programme. Taking on a real job at a junior level, you'll gain invaluable hands-on experience while being mentored by highly skilled professionals.

You’ll help shape how we deliver projects and be involved with designing, planning and delivering work. You’ll also gain experience in team working, problem solving, and using human performance tools, with opportunities to experience plant operations and explore other areas of interest.

What You’ll Experience

During your Project Delivery Industrial Placement, you’ll gain an understanding of how multi million pound projects are delivered from concept, through design and to execution. You’ll learn about systems vital to the smooth operation of a Nuclear Power Station, including safety protocols, technical governance, quality assurance, analysis, communication strategies, and IT systems.

Additionally, you’ll have the opportunity to further develop Planning & Project Management skills, to build and develop a network to allow successful delivery of work packages.

Your Work Location

You’ll be based on site at #Heysham 1 Power Station, within the Project Delivery team.

Who You Are

To be eligible for this scheme, you need to be on track to achieve, or have already achieved, a 2:2 undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Maths, Physics, Science, Engineering or Project Management.

It is a requirement that those who join us have the right to work in the UK. Whilst sponsorship may be a possibility, we reserve the right in our decisions to give priority to those who already have the right to work in the UK.

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a starting salary of at least £26,050 per annum and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.

At EDF, we believe there are multiple definitions of what it means to succeed. That’s why we offer you the freedom to develop a career that’s unique to you. Here, Success is Personal – it’s your journey, powered by us.

Everyone is welcome at EDF; we’re committed to building a workforce that reflects gender balance, social mobility, and inclusion of minority ethnic backgrounds, LGBTQ+ communities, and those with disabilities.

As a Disability Confident employer, we're committed to creating an accessible recruitment process and encourage candidates to tell us about any support they may need. Should you disclose a disability and meet the minimum criteria (which will include holding a relevant degree discipline/grade and achieving the required pass mark for Stage 1 Testing) for the role you’ll be progressed to the first stage of the selection process. Some of our roles at EDF attract large volumes of applications. When this happens, we’ll apply the Disability Confident scheme’s guidance on taking practical and appropriate steps selecting disabled candidates who best meet the minimum criteria for the job.

Our Recruitment Process

We'll guide you through every stage and keep you updated along the way. You'll be supported by real people, with opportunities to ask questions, learn more and receive feedback where possible.

For our Early Careers Programmes, we use a combination of automated decision-making, assessment technology and human review.
