Mid/Senior Backend Engineer (Banking)

Our Mission and Vision

At Solidgate, our mission is clear: to empower outstanding entrepreneurs to build exceptional internet companies. We exist to fuel the builders — the ones shaping the digital economy — with the financial infrastructure they deserve. To achieve that, we’re on a bold path: to become the #1 payments orchestration platform in the world.

We believe the future of payments is shaped by people who think big, take ownership, and bring curiosity and drive to everything they do. That’s exactly the kind of teammates we want on board.

We're building the #1 payment orchestrator in the world — and the names behind us prove it. Clients include Bolt, Ajax, Nova Post, MEGOGO. Trusted by giants like J.P. Morgan. Ranked #2 in the "Employer of the Year 2026" award by Forbes Ukraine.

About the Team and Role

You will join the Banking team — a small, focused group building financial infrastructure for digital companies that struggle to access EU banking. Many businesses, especially from Ukraine and CEE, can't open EU business accounts at all, or wait months to do so. Our product removes that blocker: companies get a business account, can send SEPA and SWIFT payments, receive payouts to cards, exchange currencies, and manage everything through one portal.

Your immediate team: a Senior Backend Engineer with 10+ years in fintech and AI, a Senior Backend Engineer with 8+ years including crypto, a Middle Frontend Engineer with 6+ years, and a Junior AQA Engineer. We're growing it now to launch corporate cards — a new product that lets business clients issue and manage cards directly through the platform.

What you’ll own

— Design and build backend services for corporate card issuance and management, including roles and user permissions

— Integrate with core banking providers, AML systems, and SWIFT to enable reliable, compliant payment flows (SEPA, SWIFT, payout to cards)

— Analyze third-party documentation and translate it into concrete integration and architecture plans

— Participate in product decisions across the full development lifecycle — from RFC and PRD to production

— Improve the performance, scalability, and observability of the system using tools like Kafka, tRPC/Connect RPC, Loki, and VictoriaMetrics

— Hold quality to a high standard: write unit and functional tests, follow security best practices, and contribute to automated CI/CD pipelines

— Collaborate daily with design, finance, and platform teams to ship a seamless end-to-end user experience

You’re a great fit if you have

— 2+ years of backend development experience (Node.js/TypeScript preferred, but other backend programming languages are considered as well)

— Strong command of SQL — PostgreSQL or MySQL

— Experience writing unit and functional tests (Jest, Cypress, Vitest, or similar)

— Experience building or integrating complex systems

— Proactive by default: you spot problems early, propose fixes, and follow through

— Comfortable owning a feature from first line to production — no hand-holding needed

— Clear communicator: you can explain technical decisions and defend your choices

— Business-minded: you build to create value, not just to ship code

Nice to have

— Experience with event-driven systems

— Kafka, RabbitMQ, or SQS

— Familiarity with fintech, crypto, or payment system integrations

— Hands-on with Docker, AWS, GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions, Terraform

— Knowledge of API security and vulnerability patterns

Why Solidgate?

— Impactful work: You're building financial infrastructure that solves a real, felt problem — international companies that can't access EU banking. What you ship directly affects company revenue and the lives of the businesses using it.

— Creative freedom: The Banking product is two years old, the codebase is clean, and there's no legacy holding you back. Experiment, propose architecture decisions, and lead the solutions you believe in.

— Career growth: Middle to Senior in 6–12 months is a realistic path here, with coaching from engineers who have 8–10+ years in fintech. Want to expand into Golang or Kotlin? That door is open too.

— Ownership culture: You own features end to end — from RFC to production. No hand-offs, no waiting for someone else to decide. What you build today shapes how the platform scales tomorrow.

— People worth working with: A small, senior team that writes thoughtful code, does real reviews, and ships things that matter. Smart, experienced teammates who raise the bar and actually have each other's backs.

💌 The Extras: 30+ days off, unlimited sick leave, free office meals, health coverage, and Apple gear to keep you productive. Courses, conferences, sports and wellness benefits — all designed for ideas, focus, and fun.

Tomorrow’s fintech needs your mindset. Come build it with us.
