Mechanical Engineer

Every day, we get opportunities to make a positive impact – on our colleagues, partners, customers, and society. Together, we’re pioneering the solutions of the future and unlocking the full potential of precious resources. Trusted to act on initiative, we challenge conventional thinking to develop world-leading technologies that inspire progress in vital areas, including energy, food, water, and shipping.

As we push forward, the innovative, open spirit that fuels our 140-year-old start-up culture and rapid growth also drives our personal growth. So, as we shape a more resourceful, less wasteful world, we build our careers too.

About the job

As a Mechanical Engineer specializing in product design maintenance, you will enter a versatile role where you will have technical ownership of engineering changes that keep our existing product portfolio performing at its best.

Working at the center of our engineering organization, you will drive mechanical and system design changes from initial assessment through implementation and documentation. You thrive working across functions, taking ownership of technical decisions, and are energized by the challenge of improving products and systems in a collaborative environment.

Some of your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead changes to structural steel, mechanical designs, and components such as valves, fans, and pumps.

• Assess and own how changes impact surrounding systems and take ownership of each change from initiation through to closeout, collaborating with relevant functions throughout the process.

• Drive the technical part of engineering changes, particularly in mechanical and system design, to maintain and improve the existing product portfolio.

• Select the right components — including writing specifications and conducting technical evaluation of supplier proposals.

• Assess if and how changes impact risk assessments (HAZOP, FMEA, DFMEA),

• Create Technical Solution Descriptions (impact analysis) documenting the impact of changes across diagrams, models, and technical documentation.

• Implement changes involving mechanical design, P&IDs, components and to some extent process changes.

• Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to evaluate and implement changes effectively.

• Monitor and ensure progress on assigned engineering changes

You will also get the opportunity to:

• Design and develop marine systems and components, including burners, boilers, heat exchangers, and future fuel systems.

• Work in an environment of development and product optimization.

• Develop detailed design documentation for individual components and complete products, ensuring high standards of quality and manufacturability.

About you

You are a curious, ambitious, and passionate Mechanical Engineer with a strong interest in product maintenance and engineering changes. You thrive in collaborative environments and are eager to develop your skills while making a meaningful contribution. With a structured and analytical approach, you naturally take ownership and focus on practical, effective solutions.

You are confident making technical decisions independently and following them through to completion. Strong collaboration, communication, and interpersonal skills enable you to work effectively with colleagues and stakeholders across the organization.

Required Qualifications:

• Educational background in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, or a similar technical discipline.

• 5 years of experience in a similar role involving mechanical steel design (i.e. structures and pressure vessel).

• Basic experience with CAD software such as Inventor or similar, at minimum viewer level. The role does not involve creating 2D or 3D designs.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with burners, boilers, heat exchangers, scrubbers, or similar marine or industrial systems is an advantage.

• Familiarity with PLM software, such as Autodesk Vault and/or Siemens Teamcenter.

As part of a global organization, speaking and writing English is a prerequisite.
