About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Marketing Growth Analytics & Operations Intern who is best-in-class, with a high IQ and EQ. This role presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a rapidly growing team. Our Marketing Growth team runs consumer programs that reach millions of shoppers promoting subscriptions, giveaways, surveys, and lifecycle campaigns across email, push, RCS/SMS, in-app messages, and landing pages.
This role sits where marketing meets data, engineering and product. As a Marketing Growth Analytics & Operations Intern, you will play a critical role in measuring and improving the programs that drive our consumer business. A core focus will be writing the queries and building the reporting that tell us whether a program worked, and designing the tests that answer the questions we would otherwise be guessing at. In addition to analysis, you will work closely with Product and Engineering to translate marketing needs into clear requirements and to identify what we would need built to make new programs possible. This role is well-suited to someone with a technical background who is drawn to the business and product side of the work and who wants exposure to how marketing decisions are made.
What You'll Do:
Answer questions with data
- Write your own SQL to pull campaign, cohort, and subscription performance.
- Track the metrics that drive the business: DAU, NTM, LTV, CAC
- Analyze performance across time periods and segments, and preemptively flag concerns or areas for improvement
- Own the dashboards behind our decisions, and use AI to find the answers hiding in them
Design and measure experiments
- Design A/B test variants across all channels and audience splits. Identify success metrics for any test or campaign prior to launch based on key business priorities
- Write the post-test analysis: what worked, what didn't, what we do differently next time
- Own consumer surveys from request to results: define and query the audience, launch, monitor completion, report back what we learned, and optimize the process
Bridge marketing and engineering
- Translate marketing needs into specs and tickets an engineer can act on
- Investigate system alerts and concerns by tracing any issue through dashboards and logs back to its source
- QA new product features, software, and placements, and recommend how marketing should utilize them
- Identify underused channels and product placements, and propose how marketing could leverage them
Automate and improve how we work
- Leverage AI tools (Claude and similar) within your own work. Think recurring reports, first-pass analyses, monitoring performance, and triage. Build automations and templates the rest of the team can use
- Own recurring operational queues and look for the patterns and fixes behind repeat problems instead of just clearing them
What We Look For:
Skills & Competencies
- Basic working knowledge of SQL.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or HTML/CSS, and enough comfort reading code.
- More interested in the business and product side than in engineering for its own sake. You want to know why the number moved, not only how the system works
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- You get the most out of AI. Claude, ChatGPT, or similar are already part of how you work — research, summaries, first-pass analyses — and you're constantly exploring what else they can handle
- Comfort working in agile, matrixed teams with multiple inputs and quick turnarounds
- A strong bias for action
Educational & Professional Experience
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in engineering, computer science, data science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related technical field
- Exposure to BI tools (Redash/SIA, Looker, Tableau, or similar) is a plus
- Prior experience with a CRM platform like Braze is a plus
- Any experience with product management, experiment design, or A/B testing is a plus
About You:
- You have relentlessly high standards - many people may think your standards are unreasonably high. You are continually raising the bar and driving those around you to deliver great results. You make sure that defects do not get sent down the line and that problems are fixed so they stay fixed.
- You’re not bound by convention - your success—and much of the fun—lies in developing new ways to do things
- You need action - speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study. We value calculated risk-taking.
- You earn trust - you listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully.
- You have backbone; disagree, then commit - you can respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. You have conviction and are tenacious. You do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, you commit wholly.
- You deliver results - you focus on the key inputs and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, you rise to the occasion and never settle.
What Makes Working at Sezzle Awesome:
