Internship on Product Quality & Technical Operations

About Caravelo

Airlines have spent decades selling one trip at a time. At Caravelo, we help them build recurring relationships with their customers instead.
We build the technology behind airline subscription products used by carriers around the world, combining SaaS, payments, booking systems and airline integrations in one platform.
Our Product & Platform teams build the common technology. Our Professional Services team makes it work in the real world for each airline.
Before those changes reach a customer, someone needs to make sure they actually work.
That is where this internship comes in.

The mission

As a Technical QA Intern in our Professional Services team, you will help us validate customer-facing changes before they reach production.
You will test changes in sandbox, understand what they are supposed to do, investigate when something behaves unexpectedly and give the team a clear answer: ready to ship, or not yet, and why.
You will also help us keep control of releases and validate production after deployment.
This is a hands-on technical internship. You will work with APIs, databases, logs, frontend flows and payment transactions. You will read code when it helps you understand a problem and use AI to explore unfamiliar systems, investigate issues and build small tools or scripts that make your work faster.
This is not a software engineering internship, but you will work very close to software engineering.
The goal is not to teach you how to follow a testing checklist.
The goal is for you to develop a genuine understanding of how a B2B SaaS product works end to end, how software reaches enterprise customers, and how to investigate when reality does not match expectations.
You will report to the Director of Professional Services and work closely with Engineering, Product and our customer-facing teams.

What you'll do

Test changes before they ship

• Validate functional and visual changes in sandbox as they move into testing.
• Understand what each change is supposed to achieve and verify that it behaves correctly.
• Clearly document failures so another person can reproduce and investigate them.
• Run end-to-end checks to make sure complete customer journeys continue working after changes.

Help us release with confidence

• Keep visibility over what is included in each release and whether it has been validated.
• Help make sure untested changes do not accidentally reach customers.
• After deployment, perform exploratory checks in production to confirm the real environment behaves as expected.

Investigate, not just report

• Use logs and monitoring tools to understand errors and unusual behaviour.
• Inspect backend data when it helps explain what happened.
• Work with APIs to reproduce and isolate problems.
• Learn how payment gateways, subscriptions and customer transactions flow through the system.
• Follow an issue far enough to understand why it happened, not only that it happened.

Improve how we work

• Identify repetitive or error-prone tasks in your daily work.
• Use AI and lightweight automation to make testing and investigation faster.
• Build small scripts, helpers or internal tools when useful.
• Contribute ideas for making our testing and release process more reliable over time.

What success looks like

You are succeeding in this internship when:

• You can increasingly test changes independently and know where to look when something does not behave as expected.
• Engineers trust your findings because they are clear, accurate and reproducible.
• You understand the main customer journeys and how frontend, APIs, data and integrations fit together.
• You spot issues before customers do and help the team understand their root cause.
• You become comfortable investigating unfamiliar technical problems rather than stopping at the first error message.
• You leave behind better tools, documentation or testing practices than the ones you started with.

What you bring

This is a first job, and we're hiring for it as such. We don't expect professional experience. We expect curiosity, care and enough technical grounding to get going.

Must have

• Basic programming and software-development knowledge from your studies, personal projects or other hands-on experience.
• Enough technical curiosity to explore APIs, databases, logs and code when investigating a problem.
• Some familiarity with APIs, SQL/databases and Git — you do not need to be an expert.
• A methodical mindset and the instinct to understand why something broke rather than simply report that it did.
• Ability to explain what you found clearly enough for someone else to reproduce it.
• Professional working English and confidence using AI tools thoughtfully as part of your work.

Nice to have

• Experience with testing or automation tools such as Postman, Playwright or Selenium.
• You have automated something repetitive with a script, whether for university, work or yourself.
• An interest in payments, subscriptions, SaaS or travel technology.

Our stack

You do not need to know all of these before joining. They are some of the technologies and tools you will encounter while learning the platform:

Java / Spring Boot · Vue / Nuxt · REST APIs · PostgreSQL · Couchbase · GitLab · Datadog · Postman · Playwright · Claude Code · Cursor

What matters more than knowing every tool is being comfortable exploring unfamiliar technology and learning how the pieces connect.

The kind of professional who tends to enjoy this role

This role tends to suit someone who is naturally curious about how things work.

When something fails, you do not immediately hand it to someone else. You click around, inspect the request, look at the data, check the logs and try to understand what actually happened.

You notice details, but you do not lose sight of the full customer journey.

You enjoy learning by doing and are comfortable saying, “I don’t know yet — let me investigate.”

And when you find yourself doing the same manual task for the tenth time, your instinct is to wonder whether you could automate it.

What we offer

• A paid internship with real responsibility from early on.
• Direct mentoring from the Director of Professional Services.
• Exposure to Engineering, Product and customer-facing teams.
• The opportunity to understand a complex SaaS product end to end.
• Space to experiment with AI, automation and improvements to how the team works.
• Flexible working hours.
• Barcelona-based hybrid working environment.
• Regular company events and celebrations.

Our hiring process

For internships, we keep the process shorter and lighter than our standard hiring process.

1. Intro conversation
A short conversation with our People team to get to know you, understand what you are looking for and introduce Caravelo and the internship.
2. Short practical exercise
A small, role-related exercise to see how you approach testing, investigation and communicating what you find. We are interested in how you think, not in catching you out with trick questions.
3. Team interview
Meet your future colleagues, discuss the exercise and learn more about how the Professional Services team works day to day.

We aim to keep the process simple and move quickly.

Interested?

If you are early in your career and want to learn how a real software product works beyond the classroom (from frontend flows and APIs to data, payments, logs and production releases) we would like to hear from you.

You do not need years of experience.

Bring curiosity, technical foundations and the willingness to investigate until things make sense.
