Infrastructure Engineer (Contract – LATAM)

About Nexus

Nexus is the engine for verifiable finance — a blockchain designed to natively embed the world’s financial system into one compounding system. Built to support every major financial market on a single global exchange, Nexus unifies infrastructure that has historically been fragmented across chains and intermediaries.

Headquartered in San Francisco with a growing presence in Buenos Aires, Nexus is proud to be a cross-continental team of engineers, cryptographers, and market builders. We’re investing deeply in the Latin American ecosystem — and always looking for world-class talent to join us.

Nexus is backed by leading investors, including Pantera, Lightspeed, Dragonfly, Faction, Blockchain Builders Fund, Alliance, and SVA, and works with more than 100 partners across the global finance and blockchain stack.

The Role

We're hiring different levels of Infrastructure Engineer in Latin America to support and help build the core infrastructure powering Nexus's Layer 1 blockchain and its high-performance exchange, enshrined at the protocol layer.

This role focuses on distributed infrastructure supporting financial workloads that demand reliability and performance. You'll work closely with senior engineers, product, and protocol teams while contributing remotely from Argentina or broader LATAM.

This is a great opportunity to grow your career working on infrastructure at the heart of a global execution system — from public testnet through mainnet.

What You'll Do

• Support the deployment and maintenance of distributed infrastructure powering Nexus's L1 blockchain and exchange.

• Assist in optimizing transaction pipelines for speed and reliability under senior guidance.

• Contribute to building secure, production-grade systems that meet performance requirements.

• Help maintain high-availability infrastructure across cloud and distributed environments.

• Learn and apply best practices for observability, reliability, and secure operations.

What Success Looks Like

• Reliable contribution to a stable mainnet with consistent uptime and availability.

• Active participation in improving exchange performance and latency.

• Quickly ramping up on internal tooling and workflows — first meaningful contribution within the first month.

• Growing comfort with high-performance benchmarking and infrastructure tuning.

• Positive collaboration with the team and consistent delivery on assigned tasks.

Must-Have

• Experience, with some exposure to infrastructure or distributed systems.

• Working knowledge of Rust, Go, or another systems language.

• Basic understanding of distributed systems concepts (consensus, fault tolerance, latency).

• Hands-on experience with Docker; familiarity with Kubernetes is a plus.

• Exposure to observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or similar.

• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code tools such as Terraform or Pulumi.

• Basic experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure).

• Eagerness to learn secure, fault-tolerant infrastructure practices.

• Good written and spoken Business English.

Levels we're hiring

• Principal 8+ years - System design leadership, cross-team impact, mentorship, leading 5 Jr engineers in parallel and teams of at least 10 engineers

Bonus Points:

• Experience running distributed blockchain infrastructure, validator networks, or Layer-1 systems.

• Knowledge of MEV mitigation, transaction ordering fairness, or decentralized exchange infrastructure.

• Experience optimizing consensus or transaction pipelines for determinism and low latency.

• Familiarity with zero-knowledge proofs or cryptographic

Why Join Us

• Build the distributed infrastructure behind a next-generation Layer 1 blockchain.

• Work on systems where infrastructure performance directly shapes the end-to-end trading experience.

• Collaborate with top engineers in AI, cryptography, runtime systems, and distributed consensus.

• Shape primitives and infrastructure designed for long-term correctness, performance, and global scale.

• Join a high-performance engineering culture where deep technical work is valued and expected.
