Housekeeping Supervisor / Self Checker

Housekeeping Supervisor and Self Checker role | Mercure Tauranga

Be part of Tauranga’s first international hotel brand and help us continue to set a high standard for hospitality in the region.

Mercure Tauranga brings together the strength and international standards of Mercure and Accor with the genuine, welcoming hospitality our local team is known for.

We are looking for a hands-on Housekeeping Supervisor to play an important role in the continued success of our Housekeeping team.

Our focus is simple: strong procedures, consistent standards, attention to detail and great teamwork.

About the role

This is a great opportunity for an experienced Housekeeping professional who enjoys being hands-on while developing their leadership experience.

You will generally perform the Housekeeping Supervisor role approximately 2 days per week, taking responsibility for the day-to-day operation when the Housekeeping Manager is not on shift.

On your other rostered days, you will work as a Self-Checker, servicing and checking rooms alongside the team while the Housekeeping Manager leads the department.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Coordinating the Housekeeping operation and room priorities when supervising
• Inspecting rooms and ensuring our quality and presentation standards are achieved
• Working alongside and supporting the Housekeeping team
• Coaching team members and providing practical feedback
• Monitoring room readiness and productivity without compromising quality
• Communicating closely with Front Office and Maintenance
• Supporting linen, amenities and stock control
• Maintaining strong health, safety, privacy and hotel standards

For us, great leadership means being present, supporting your team, leading by example and taking pride in every room we present to our guests.

What we are looking for

Previous Housekeeping experience within a hotel or accommodation environment is essential.

Previous supervisory experience is desirable; however, if you are an experienced Housekeeping professional who is ready to take the next step into leadership, we would also love to hear from you.

You will bring:

• Strong attention to detail and pride in presentation
• A positive, practical and hands-on approach
• Good organisation and time-management skills
• Confidence communicating and supporting others
• The ability to balance productivity with quality
• Reliability and flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays

At Mercure Tauranga, how we work is just as important as what we do. We value people who are Genuine, Committed, Adaptable, Reliable and Enthusiastic, and who bring these qualities to their interactions with both guests and colleagues.

Why join us?

As part of Mercure and the wider Accor network, you will enjoy:

• Accor Heartist employee benefits
• Worldwide hotel, dining and lifestyle discounts
• Learning and development opportunities
• Opportunities to grow your career within Accor in New Zealand and internationally
• A supportive team environment where your contribution and ideas are valued
• The opportunity to be part of the continued success of Tauranga’s first internationally branded hotel

If you take pride in Housekeeping, enjoy working as part of a team and are ready to grow your leadership experience, we would love to hear from you.
