Head of Production (Quantum Processors)

At IQM, we build world-leading quantum computers for the well-being of humankind. We design systems to tackle computational challenges beyond the practical limits of classical machines. Our work sits at the edge of science and engineering. It's complex, demanding, and deeply collaborative. We turn deep research into reliable, full-stack systems that drive discoveries in fields like medicine, energy, and technology, reshaping how the world computes.

Join the team that gives quantum a heartbeat.

The work

You lead the ramp- and scale-up of IQM's quantum processor unit (QPU) production site by turning quantum processor fabrication and packaging into a repeatable, measurable production capability. You take the line from where it stands today to multiplied volumes with predictable yield and on-time delivery, driving throughput and process maturity while protecting safety and well-being in a cleanroom environment. You get to do this in close collaboration with IQM's fabrication and quantum engineering experts, building the manufacturing backbone behind every quantum computer we deliver.

What you’ll actually do

• Build the production ramp up plan, staffing needs, and operating cadence.

• Lead the QPU Production organization, including chip fabrication, micro packaging, and materials supply.

• Ensure high quality QPUs are available for quantum computer deliveries, with clear production planning and execution against demand.

• Lead a team of professionals (currently 15 micro- and nanofabrication, micro packaging & material supply experts), resourcing with the right talent to increase the team size to match the business need and are responsible for team well-being and development.

• Set up the production control points across the line and drive alignment on pass fail criteria with process engineering leads.

• Establish yield tracking and loss breakdown across wafer and chip flow.

• Put the right production metrics in place and use them to drive daily decisions, prioritization, and continuous improvement.

• Develop systematically the process to reduce variation.

• Collaborate with other engineering teams to enable controlled implementation of new processes and products.

• Partner closely with process engineering on troubleshooting and production quality, so decisions can move into the line with the right guardrails.

• Work with project managers, procurement, and delivery teams to keep schedules realistic, visible, and on track.

• Maintain and enforce safety, quality standards, and strong working conditions, every day.

• Coach and develop your team leads and grow a culture of clarity, accountability, and well-being.

What we’re looking for

• Deep understanding of production and production ramp up, ideally in a deep tech environment

• Solid understanding of microfabrication and packaging processes.

• Proven track record of leading a production ramp up, with clear examples and measurable impact

• Ability to set up practical metrics for production output, quality, and cost and to follow through with execution with data.

• Excellent leadership and performance management skills, including clear expectations and fair, direct feedback.

• Strong coaching skills and a motivation to help others grow, especially team leads.

• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to drive consensus and clarity across stakeholders.

• Ability to explain technical topics to both technical and non technical audiences.

• Strong collaboration skills and confidence working with cross functional teams.

• Experience working closely with R&D teams to industrialize new processes.

• Experience with MES, production data systems.

Advantageous if you have:

• Background in superconducting quantum technology or high precision deep tech manufacturing

Why IQM?

• Full-stack quantum computing: From quantum hardware to software layers and beyond, we build across the full-stack.

• High-performance playground: We aim high, and we know sustainable performance only works when life outside work does too—hybrid setups, flexible hours.

• Never the smartest: Expect to learn constantly. You won't always be the smartest person in the room, and that's the point.

• Approachable leadership: Flat hierarchy, direct access. Feel free to approach any leaders. They're friendlier than they look!

• The sweet spot: Big enough to matter. Small enough to move fast. Growing between a startup and a corporation. We’re in the phase where top performers get noticed.

• Bigger than IQM: Our people build know-how for the entire quantum ecosystem. We publish papers, run hackathons, and help shape a market that's still being defined.

The future of computing won’t build itself. You might be one of the few who do.
