Graduate: Asset Ownership

About the Company

Since its establishment in 2008, Mulilo has grown into one of South Africa’s leading Independent Power Producers (IPP). Mulilo is majority owned by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), with Norfund holding an additional investment through the Norwegian Climate Investment Fund.

Mulilo develops, constructs and operates utility scale wind, solar PV and battery energy storage projects across South Africa. The company currently operates 450 MW of wind and solar capacity, with a further 765 MW under construction. A portfolio exceeding 2 GW is advancing toward financial close, while the long-term development pipeline exceeds 30 GW.

Mulilo has concluded power purchase agreements under the South African government’s Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP), as well as private offtake agreements with several large corporate energy users.

Mulilo places significant emphasis on its people and recognises that successful infrastructure delivery depends on capable and committed teams. The company prides itself on providing a world-class working environment, with a clear focus on career progression and personal growth. Grounded in its values, Mulilo fosters a culture of accountability, collaboration and purpose, while remaining committed to its environmental, social and governance responsibilities.

About this role

The Graduate will support the Asset Ownership team in protecting and maximising the long-term equity value of Mulilo’s renewable energy portfolio. The role combines governance reporting, financial analysis, data management and support for strategic workstreams.

This developmental role is designed to build the technical, commercial and stakeholder-management capabilities needed to progress into an Asset Ownership Analyst position. The successful candidate will work alongside the incumbent Asset Ownership Analyst, taking on greater responsibility as their skills and capabilities develop.

The role requires a structured approach to problem-solving, strong numerical skills, curiosity and the ability to deliver clear, accurate work under guidance.

Duties and responsibilities

Governance Reporting & Coordination

• Prepare draft packs, minutes, action logs and status reporting for Sub-committees and SteerCo’s where Asset Ownership contributes or leads.
• Coordinate inputs, deadlines and supporting information across relevant functions.
• Maintain reporting calendars and follow up on open actions.
• All governance output is subject to review and approval by the Asset Ownership team before circulation.

Financial Analysis & Modelling Support

• Interrogate project and portfolio financial models to support scenario analysis, sensitivity testing and reconciliation of outputs against assumptions.
• Assist with the development and maintenance of AO analytical tools, trackers and dashboards.
• Support analysis relating to portfolio performance, refinancing, repowering, transactions and other strategic initiatives.
• The role does not own or amend financial models without appropriate oversight.

Portfolio Data & Reporting

• Maintain accurate portfolio datasets, registers and performance trackers.
• Obtain, validate and reconcile information from Asset Management, Construction Management, Finance, Development and other stakeholders.
• Identify inconsistencies, investigate root causes and escalate unresolved data or reporting gaps.

Strategic Workstream Support

• Support the Head of Asset Ownership on larger workstreams, including executive papers, portfolio initiatives, M&A and transaction-related analysis.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that simplify reporting, strengthen controls and improve decision-making.

Required skills and education background.

• Completed university degree in Finance, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science or another quantitative discipline.
• Strong structured problem-solving and analytical ability.
• Numerical fluency and proficiency in Microsoft Excel; exposure to financial modelling is advantageous.
• Ability to prepare clear, concise written materials and presentations for senior stakeholders.
• High attention to detail, ownership of deadlines and willingness to follow up across functions.

Desirable attributes

The ideal candidate has a genuine passion for building the systems and standards that make a growing business perform better and is energised by working across every part of the organisation rather than owning a single silo. They bring the quiet authority to hold departments accountable to a shared standard without becoming an auditor and see governance as a lever for enterprise performance rather than a compliance exercise.

Mulilo is an employer of choice and offers an extremely competitive total remuneration package for this position.

Additional information

The position is based at Mulilo's Cape Town offices. Occasional travel to project and construction sites may be required in line with business needs.
