Generalist / Portco Recruiter

Beacon is building the essential technology infrastructure for the everyday economy: the businesses, organizations, and services that make real life work, and that mainstream tech has largely left behind. We acquire, operate, and grow vertical market software companies. They are niche, founder-built businesses serving industries that are often overlooked and too profitable to ignore.

Our model is simple: we seek out founders who have built their business by spending years understanding their market and prioritizing their customers' specific needs. We buy great businesses, invest in their continued growth, and hold them permanently, accelerating that growth with an AI-native platform built specifically for vertical market software. No mandate to cut, flip, or roll up into something unrecognizable.

We are not a financial firm. We are technology entrepreneurs and operators who believe the most important businesses in the world are already running quietly in industries most people never think about. Our job is to find them, support the people who built them, and make them better.

Beacon is backed by a diverse base of investors, with $550M+ raised to date, including General Catalyst, Lightspeed, D1 Capital, CPMG, the family offices of the founders of Stripe, DoorDash, and Ramp, and evergreen funds built for the long game.

About the Role

Fresh off a $225M Series C, we're acquiring companies at pace and the hiring demand that comes with it is real. As we scale, we are looking to build our in-house business and G&A recruiting function, while also expanding our talent offerings to our portcos. This is a unique, multi-faceted role for a superstar generalist recruiter who can run full-cycle searches across finance, sales, marketing, operations, HR, and customer success, both at Beacon's corporate team and inside our portfolio companies.

What You'll be Doing:

• Full-cycle ownership, corporate side. Support hiring for non-eng/non-product roles at Beacon HQ, including finance, marketing, sales, ops, M&A, and BD, from first outreach to signed offer.

• Portco hiring on demand. Parachute into a portfolio company's one-off senior hire - e.g. a Product Marketing Manager, a Head of Sales, an Ops lead - learn the business quickly, and run the search end-to-end alongside a GM who may never have worked with a dedicated recruiter before.

• Constant context-switching. Juggle multiple open roles at once across different functions, companies, and markets, each with its own comp band, hiring bar, and stakeholder.

• Strategic partnership. Build hiring plans with GMs and functional leaders at as both a thought and recruiting partner

• Creative sourcing. LinkedIn is the floor, not the ceiling. Functional networks, referrals, niche communities, and AI-assisted tooling are all in play, and the right channel changes with every role.

• Operational rigor. We use Ashby and we take our data seriously. Clean pipelines, tight feedback loops, and disciplined processes are essential.

• The close. You know how to navigate comp conversations and competing offers with ease and drive negotiations to a successful close.

• Brand building. You'll help tell the Beacon story in markets and functions we haven't actively recruited in before.

What you Bring:

• 5+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience with a generalist background, comfortable calibrating fast on, and recruiting for roles and industries you haven't extensively recruited for.

• Comfort in high-growth, multi-entity environments. You don't need a playbook for every function; you're happy to write one.

• A fast learner. You can get conversant in an unfamiliar function or industry quickly enough to calibrate talent without a hiring manager holding your hand.

• Verbal and written communication that's authentic, polished, persuasive.

• Self-direction. You know how to prioritize across a shifting slate of roles and deliver without being supervised.

• Hands-on experience with Ashby or Greenhouse.

• BA/BS degree.

Bonus Points:

• You've recruited for PE-backed, multi-entity, or holding-company businesses and understand the dynamics of hiring across autonomous units.

• You've recruited GM-level or executive roles, not just individual contributors.

• You've built out a function you didn't come from, finance, sales, or ops, and know what a strong bar looks like even outside your home turf.

• You're comfortable managing many stakeholders at once and don't need a single hiring manager to anchor your process.

Our Values at Beacon Software

• Humility: We acknowledge that the path to getting to the right answer involves being wrong along the way. We have strong beliefs which are weakly held. We actively seek new ideas and believe we can learn from anyone at any time.

• Honesty: We are truth seeking in our approach to business problems. Business is a repeat game and we believe that human relationships generate alpha. We understand that trust is earned over a lifetime and can be lost in an instant.

• Hunger: We play to win. We hold ourselves to high standards and will not be outworked. We take pride in having a deep sense of responsibility to ourselves, each other, our partners, and our customers. We believe to whom much is given much is expected.

• Horizon: We seek to build a generational software company. This will take decades. We manage our expectations and those of our partners to take advantage of the 8th wonder of the world - compounding growth.

How We Use AI in Our Hiring Process: To ensure transparency, we want candidates to know that Beacon Software uses Artificial Intelligence and AI-enabled tools to assist with screening, reviewing, organizing and highlighting profiles and applications that match the key requirements for each role.

AI does not make hiring decisions: Every application is reviewed by a member of our team, and all decisions throughout the process are made by humans. We use AI to support efficiency and consistency, not to replace human judgment. We are committed to a fair, thoughtful, and equitable experience for every candidate.
