DevSecOps Staff Engineer at Grayscale Investments · Katori

Grayscale is the largest digital asset-focused investment platform in the world by AUM and offers the broadest selection of digital asset investment products in the U.S. based on number of products.

Our platform spans the full spectrum of institutional-grade solutions—from single-asset exposures to diversified and thematic strategies—with a goal of providing every investor with access to the hyper-expanding digital asset universe. Our firm offers a rare combination of decades of traditional finance work experience and digital asset leadership that brings an institutional mindset to the maturing digital asset industry. This convergence of capabilities positions us to deliver investment solutions and client experiences that are both institutionally robust and technologically advanced, which we believe offers a competitive edge that is difficult to replicate.

We’re proud of our deep crypto expertise and work closely with individual and institutional investors as they explore this asset class as part of their portfolio allocation.

Position Summary:

Grayscale is seeking a Staff DevSecOps engineer to join our Engineering team. You will own the DevOps, SecOps, cloud governance, and infrastructure architecture that underpins all of Grayscale's technology delivery. This is a shared enabling role. Your work will make delivery faster by making it safer, more observable, and more repeatable for other squads. You will partner closely with engineering leads, security, and architecture to build a modern, well-governed cloud environment. This role reports into the Head of Engineering.

Tech Stack:

We utilize AWS as our cloud platform, enabling scalable and secure infrastructure. Our infrastructure is managed using Terraform, with Docker and AWS Lambda and Fargate for containerization and deployment. We rely on GitLab for our CI/CD processes. There is significant opportunity to modernize our cloud posture, accelerate developer productivity, and formalize DevSecOps practices.

Responsibilities:

Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure on AWS using Terraform, Docker, and related IaC tooling
Own and evolve CI/CD pipelines in GitLab to ensure smooth, secure, and efficient software delivery
Implement and maintain DevSecOps practices including security scanning, vulnerability management, and compliance automation
Define and enforce cloud governance policies, cost management, and architectural guardrails across the organization
Build observability and monitoring solutions that improve reliability, performance, and incident response across all platforms
Partner with the security team to ensure ITGC evidence, audit readiness, and control frameworks are in place
Accelerate developer productivity through self-service tooling, environment automation, and standardized deployment patterns
Ensure high-quality infrastructure delivery through strong collaboration with product, engineering, and security
Set architecture standards and technical direction for cloud and delivery, in coordination with engineering leadership
Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies in cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and platform engineering
Mentor engineers across the organization on infrastructure, cloud architecture, and operational excellence, acting as a leverage point for work you do not personally deliver

Qualifications:

8+ years in platform engineering, DevOps, or infrastructure roles with deep AWS experience.
Demonstrable track record of setting technical direction that others adopted: a pattern, standard, or platform used beyond your own project.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Strong proficiency with Infrastructure-as-Code tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, or similar).
Deep experience with containerization (Docker, ECS/EKS) and serverless architectures (Lambda, Step Functions).
Expertise in CI/CD pipeline design and management, preferably with GitLab.
Solid understanding of DevSecOps practices, security scanning, and compliance automation.
Deep knowledge of cloud governance, cost optimization, and architectural best practices on AWS.
Ability to translate business and engineering needs into infrastructure solutions and platform capabilities.
Strong Agile proficiency with practical application to deliver incremental, high-quality solutions.
Excellent analytical and communication skills, capable of influencing both technical and business stakeholders.
Ability to manage complex project timelines in fast-paced environments.
Experience working in a regulated industry and/or Financial Services.
Strong interpersonal skills, adept at building collaborative relationships across teams and stakeholders.
