Blue Ring Emulation Engineer - (TS/SCI Desired)

Application close date:

Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the requisition is closed.

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight!

The role is part of the In-Space Systems business unit, which is focused on addressing two of the most compelling challenges in spaceflight today: space infrastructure and increasing mobility on-orbit.

As part of a hardworking team of engineers, you'll own the development and integration of high-fidelity hardware emulations onto various Blue Ring Integration & Test Platforms. The Blue Ring spacecraft is the "Swiss Army Knife of satellites" and can support a variety of missions in Earth orbit domains out to the cislunar region - including transporting and hosting payloads, refueling satellites, as well as performing data relay, storage and compute via our in-space edge compute capability.

In this role, you will be the bridge between our complex vehicle simulations and our flight hardware. You will be responsible for creating an emulated hardware environment that is indistinguishable from the flight hardware performance. This involves developing low-level device drivers and models, integrating simulation environments with emulation equipment, and performing rigorous testing to validate that the emulation is a precise. Your work will directly enable robust, early-stage testing and verification of our Blue Ring products, accelerating our development timelines and ensuring mission success.

• Relocation provided

• 10-15% domestic travel required

• Active TS/SCI clearance desired

Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain software drivers for emulation hardware interfaces.

• Integrate vehicle component simulations with the hardware emulation platform.

• Develop and execute test plans, automation scripts, and procedures to validate the functionality and performance of the emulated system against the flight hardware.

• Debug complex issues at the software-hardware interface, identifying and resolving discrepancies between the emulation and the physical hardware.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.

• 3+ years of relevant experience in software development for embedded systems, simulation, or hardware emulation/testing.
