🎯 Why we exist

We’re on a mission to improve the reliability, transparency, and efficiency of our energy systems, fostering a future with sustainable and abundant energy. To accomplish our aims, we’re leveraging state of the art statistical learning and convex optimization methods (AI) to build the financial trust layer for the electric age.

We envision energy systems that are efficient, autonomous, resilient, and electrified.

🧗 Who we are

We are an energy-obsessed, talented, and hard working entrepreneurial team.

We are rooted in the spirit of the first mass electrification, when substations and transmission lines lit up America's cities fueling an era of unprecedented growth. Today, we are helping power the next wave of American ingenuity through a more resilient and affordable energy system.

Our founders (ex-Apple, Bluevine; ex-Affirm, Square, Google) are Stanford alumni who have scaled multi-billion-dollar underwriting platforms from scratch. We bring expertise in energy, complex systems, computational science, and structured finance.

Our world-class investors, Maverick Ventures and Caffeinated Capital, are aligned to our policy objectives and platform vision.

The Role

Comity is looking for a part-time Advisor for Utility Commission Strategy to shape how we engage state utility commissions and accelerate utility acceptance of our credit management solutions. This is an advisory role for a seasoned regulatory leader with deep experience in commission processes in states with significant renewable and storage penetration within ISO/RTO markets.

You will help us unlock the regulatory pathway to our credit management solutions adoption: clarifying how commissions influence utility credit practices, what decision-makers care about, and how to position our product so it aligns with their oversight priorities and financial risk considerations.

In this role, you will:

Advise on regulatory positioning: articulate how our product supports commission goals.
Guide regulatory engagement: refine how we communicate our value to commissions, anticipate concerns, and guide us on which stakeholders to engage and how best to approach them.
Translate regulatory signals: help us interpret emerging commission priorities and market developments so we can adapt our product and positioning accordingly.
Leverage your network: open doors with contacts across state commissions, utilities, and energy policy organizations to accelerate education and credibility.

We’re excited about you because

You’ve been close to the process: you served in a senior role at a state utility commission or held a regulatory affairs or policy leadership role at an electric utility or IPP, with significant exposure to commission decision-making.
Deep network: you maintain strong relationships across commissions and utilities, including regulatory staff, policy leaders, and utility executives who influence credit and risk decisions.
Regulatory mindset: you understand how commissions think about reliability, liquidity, credit exposure, and ratepayer protection.
Renewable exposure: you’ve worked in markets with high renewable and storage penetration.
Practical and strategic: you translate regulatory and utility experience into clear, actionable recommendations that make our product understandable, credible, and adoptable.
Trusted presence: your background gives you the credibility to help us navigate complex regulatory environments and build confidence with decision-makers.
