Account Representative – Technical Inside Sales

Job Description:

Location: Norwood, MA

Curious about how things work? Do you thrive in environments that allow you to be both self-motivated and collaborative? Do you enjoy solving problems and finding solutions that make a real impact?

At Instron, we design and manufacture mechanical testing systems that shape the products you use every day, from the crispness of a potato chip to the durability of eyewear. Our technology is trusted by 95% of the world’s largest manufacturers, and we’re proud of the collaborative, innovative culture that drives our success.

If you’re energized by problem-solving, eager to learn, and passionate about helping customers overcome challenges, this role is for you.

Why This Role Is Different

This isn’t about cold calling or pushing products. It’s about helping customers solve real challenges. If you’re proactive, tech-savvy, and enjoy learning new things, you’ll thrive here—even if you’ve never worked in sales before.

What You’ll Do

• Understand customer needs and guide them toward practical solutions
• Learn about our products and apply that knowledge to real-world problems
• Take initiative to follow up on inquiries and uncover opportunities
• Work independently while staying connected to a small, supportive team
• Keep customer interactions organized and efficient using CRM tools

What We’re Looking For

• A natural problem-solver who enjoys figuring things out
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
• Comfort with technology and an interest in technical concepts (we’ll train you!)
• Ability to work independently and contribute to a small, close-knit team

Career Changers Welcome

If you’ve worked in labs, tech support, manufacturing, or any role where you solve problems and learn on the fly, you’ll fit right in. We value initiative and curiosity over traditional sales experience.

Education: Requirements

Associate’s degree or higher is preferred; technical degree and equivalent experience are also valued.

Instron is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an environment where everyone can thrive.

• Opportunities for growth and mentorship—your career path can evolve with your interests
• Flexibility after initial training period (hybrid options available)
• Competitive pay and benefits, including health coverage and retirement plans
